It’s that time of year again. We’re bundled up against the cold, eating mince pies and counting down the days until Christmas. Of course, the TV is packed with Christmas adverts again, and so we’ve rounded up our favourite adverts for Christmas 2022!
A little bear gets a Lidl jumper and experiences the rollercoaster of being a famous Christmas character before heading back home to settle down with the little girl that loves him. Who doesn’t love a good pun? Or a bad one – that’s what Christmas crackers are for, after all.
Alison Hammond and Stephen Fry star in Sainsbury’s ‘Once upon a Pud’, a fairytale about a countess who doesn’t like Christmas Pudding. Playing in the background is a ‘medieval’ version of Teenage Dirtbag that captures the ‘tavernwave’ trend – mixing modern with the fairytale vibe.
A little boy writes a monster of a Christmas list, but all he really wanted was to be with his family.
“It’s very nostalgic, and reminds me of writing my own Christmas list”, said one person we interviewed!
A woman finds a magic pair of glasses on the bus. They show her what everyone’s dream gift is this Christmas. It’s a clever and colourful way for Boots to showcase their product range in the context of giving gifts!
1. John Lewis
John Lewis excels at telling meaningful stories and this year is no different. A new foster parent learns to skateboard to bond with a foster child who joins the family shortly before Christmas. John Lewis has partnered with Action for Children and Who Cares? Scotland to support children in care.
While competing with the big brands for the best Christmas advert isn’t going to be within most businesses’ budgets, there are lots of themed activities that you can get involved with to help raise your business’s profile. For example, this year, rather than pay for a Christmas video, we have shot some of our own footage and tied it to a visit to the food bank to make a donation.
