How to Get Things Done

Sometimes, we wish there were more hours in the day. Whilst we can’t change this, we can attempt to become more productive during those hours.

There are a number of ways to make the most out of every minute…from waking up earlier, exercising, creating to-do lists…there are numerous ways to become more productive.

Here are some suggestions on how to get more things done during your day…

Wake up an hour earlier

Even if you aren’t a “morning person,” you can still become one. By setting your alarm an hour earlier you’ll be able to get an extra hour of uninterrupted, peaceful work time.

Studies demonstrate that waking up earlier can lead to productivity and success.

Exercise in the morning

Doing a workout in in the morning will put you in a better mood and make you more productive. It can leave you ‘supercharged’ for the rest of the day and also get those endorphins going.

Tidy your desk

Taking time before work every day to tidy your desk and create a clean workspace will help you focus and avoid distractions. Bin what you don’t need and file what you do.

Make a daily to-do list

Create a daily list of realistic tasks to tackle every day. Keep it simple, though. Your tasks should not be huge jobs that will take hours to complete.

Make sure that you tackle the hardest tasks first.

This will not only help you become more productive on a daily basis, but will help you reach your bigger goals too.

Shut off social media and remain focused

Use this as an opportunity to take a break from social media and avoid going on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. It will only distract you. If your business requires social media for, make sure that you do not check your personal accounts.

Focus on getting one task finished before switching to the next one. Multitasking here is not beneficial.

Keep your emails organised

Keep your inbox clean by responding, filing, drafting or deleting an email immediately after you’ve opened it. Hundreds of unread messages in your inbox will cause you stress.

Eliminate unnecessary meetings

When arranging any meetings, make sure they are necessary and whether it can be discussed through email or on the phone.

If you do plan a face to face meeting, arrange it for only 30 minutes so that it is fast and concise.

Make 60-second decisions

Decision-making can be one of the most time-consuming tasks you undertake on a daily basis, so cut it down. You will probably make the same decision you would have made in 20 minutes.
